FRY CLUB COLTS 2
HIGHRIDGE UTD 2
First
visit to the Paddock pitches this season took us onto a bowling green of a
pitch and I pleased to say the football played reflected the quality of the
surface.
Highridge
had proved to be difficult to beat over the past few seasons, something we
wanted to change today. Unfortunately however, we looked a little out of shape
for the first 15 mins and conceded a goal. However,
once we got our discipline back, we looked a far better balanced team and
started to cause the Highridge defence trouble. A great ball out to Kyle Curtis
on the left saw him cut in past the full back and from almost on the by line he
chipped the keeper to bring us back level at 1-1 at half time.
The second
half saw us play the better football and continue to create further chances.
Only the Highridge keeper kept the scores level. However, from a Mo Bouaziz
free kick, Bradley Monelle rose unchallenged in the
penalty area to thump a header past the helpless keeper to give us a well
deserved lead. One lapse of concentration in defence saw us concede a goal
though to level again at 2-2. But we weren’t finished as James Boulton had 2 great chances amazingly saved somehow by the
Highridge keeper to end the game in a draw.
On the balance of play, we will look upon this as two points dropped but the most important point is that once again our team performance was very good.
With
many good individual performances Man of the Match once again proved difficult.
It was chosen by the referee, Mr A Glover, who awarded it for a strong
defensive performance by Michael Payne.
